Meet Dr. Stuart Ross
After 41 years of practicing periodontics in Rhode Island, Dr. Stuart Ross recently moved to Florida and joined Sarasota Dental Specialties. Relocating and working here has always been his dream. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Queens College in New York and his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for two years as a Captain, he received his post-doctoral degree, a certificate in advanced graduate studies in Periodontology and Oral Medicine, from the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry.
Dr. Ross taught at the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry in the graduate periodontology department and the VA in Providence. He was the didactic instructor in periodontology for dental hygienists at the University of Rhode Island for 13 years and established the initial didactic periodontology program for dental hygienists at the Community College of Rhode Island.
Dr. Ross has been nominated to the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists, two of the leading dental honor societies in the world. He was nominated by his peers as one of the top periodontists in Rhode Island in the most recent survey by Rhode Island Monthly. Dr. Ross has published a number of papers on periodontics as well as Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders, lectured to many groups in these areas as well as on Implants and the use of Oral Appliances for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Disorders.

Dr. Ross and his wife, Joni, are the proud parents of two married sons and three grandsons. In his free time Dr. Ross enjoys reading, exercise and tennis.
